foot day

We headed off to hospital this morning having enjoyed our week off last week. The physio is really pleased with how nick is doing. He is tolerating the boots brilliantly. He even managed to roll over this week! It was Wednesday 10th September so just the day after he turned 16 wks and we were at my inlaws and flip, over he went just like that! I was so pleased that the bar and his surgery hasn’t held him back. I think daddy was disappointed to have missed it but it certainly made nanny’s day.
Unfortunately the physio has said nick will almost definately need another tenotomy. His heel is just far too high. She said that it will be when he is 6 months old and will be under a general anesthetic. That’s quite daunting for us but I believe there is no need for me to dwell on it. If I think about it too much I go into a panic at the idea of him back in casts for another 3 weeks, I just need to accept that this is how it needs to be and that we will get through it. I just don’t want him to be in cast for his first Xmas!
Other than that though all is good. We don’t have to go back for 4 weeks now and we are allowed to get his feet out for 2 hours a day which will be wonderful!

change of focus

I have decided that I have too many things going on for one blog. I am creating another one specifically to focus on our home ed journey so that others can follow us and I can keep this one for my personal journey as a mummy recording my thoughts and experiences.

With this in mind, an update on nick. On Friday he was given a smaller boot, it would not fit when he first came out of cast due to swelling. The hospital are very happy with his progress in boots and whilst another tenotomy is not ย off the cards nor is it a certainty but they are happy enough that this week we do not need to be seen ๐Ÿ™‚ we get a week off from hospital trips! ๐Ÿ™‚
